The former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose have raised alarm over alleged plans to remove INEC chairman, Prof Yakubu Mahmoud by the APC led federal government to ensure APC fields candidate in Zamfara.

Following the postponement of the election till Feb 23, fayose said the INEC chairman could be replaced with Amina Zakari, if the All Progressives Congress (APC), fails to have a candidate in Zamfara.

Fayose in a tweet said: “Pressure being mounted on the INEC Chairman, Prof Yakubu to ensure that APC fields candidates in Zamfara or he gets sacked and be replaced by Amina Zakari.

He added, “It is now getting clearer that APC desperation to have candidates in Zamfara is one of the reasons for the postponement.”
