Music cultural festival, Felabration unveiled with a dance drama ‘kalakuta queens’ from the Terra Kulture group, yesterday in New Afrika Shrine.
The dance drama was dedicated to celebrating the kalakuta queens and it tells the tale of their dedication to him. How they stood by him during his trying times with the government. It showed the way the women lived among themselves with him.
The play was also to correct the impression people had about the ladies calling them “the pillar of Fela’s music”. It portrays how they were beaten, raped and imprisoned but still stood by Fela till his last days. Most of Fela’s music was sang where it was fussed with the drama to tell the tale. The play was produced by the key person of Terra kulture, Bolanle Austen Peters in her speech to express appreciation, she said “we have been friends with the Kuti family and it’s a pleasure to commomenrate this tribute to the memory of Fela”.
The annual music festival is scheduled to end on 21st will witness prominence artist to set the tune of Felabration.
